We are thrilled to share that the BaskEUball project is gaining visibility—not just on the court, but also on television! After months of hard work, collaboration, and community engagement, our initiative has started to attract public attention, with several exciting media appearances.
A First Glimpse on TV3 News and InfoK
The project was first introduced to a wider audience through a brief feature on the TV3 midday news (minute 35:01), one of the most-watched television channels in Catalonia. The segment captured the essence of our mission: using basketball as a tool to foster social inclusion, teamwork, and cultural understanding among young people across Europe.
Shortly after, BaskEUball was also covered by InfoK, TV3’s popular news program tailored specifically for children. The InfoK feature captured the spirit of the project from the perspective of the young participants, highlighting their experiences on and off the court.
A Full Reportage on +Bàsquet
More recently, a 10-minute reportage was featured on +Bàsquet, the weekly program produced by the Catalan Basketball Federation and La Xarxa, with the support of Televisió de Badalona. Presented by Montse López and enriched by the insights of journalists Àlex Gozalbo and Xavi Ballesteros, +Bàsquet travels across Catalonia to uncover the most compelling stories in the world of basketball—from grassroots to the professional leagues.
This special segment showcased BaskEUball as a shining example of how basketball can serve as an educational and social bridge across countries. The reportage featured key voices from the community of Salt, where the project is deeply rooted:
- The Mayor of Salt, who emphasized the importance of sport as a tool for inclusion and community cohesion.
- The project manager (Universitat de Girona), who explained the goals, scope, and international collaboration behind BASKEUball.
- A teacher from Escola La Farga, who shared insights into how the project is impacting students in the classroom and beyond.
- A basketball coach and board member of Club Bàsquet Salt, who highlighted the role of the local sports community in fostering positive values among youth.
From Local Action to Global Recognition
These televised appearances mark a major milestone in the BaskEUball journey. They reflect not only the project’s growing impact, but also the strength of the partnerships between univeristies, schools, basketball clubs, and municipalities working together to empower young people.
We thank TV3, InfoK, +Bàsquet, and everyone who participated in sharing this story with the wider public.
