The BaskEUball project celebrated its final gathering in Salt with two days of play, reflection and shared learning, featuring high-profile guests who helped amplify the visibility and social impact of the initiative.
The closing days of the BaskEUball project took place in Salt last week, with activities held on 12 and 13 November. On 12 November, Escola la Farga and the CB Salt hosted the 3rd BaskEUball Tournament, which included games, friendly matches and a medal ceremony with the participation of children from the different groups involved in the project.
As part of their programme, the participating children visited the Bàsquet Girona facilities, taking part in an engaging educational and sports-related activity. During the visit, the children had the unique opportunity to meet first-team players Martinas Geben and Mindaugas Susinskas, who shared personal and professional experiences, highlighting the importance of teamwork, dedication, and the core values that define elite sport.

On 13 November, La Farga hosted the event “Social Inclusion and Sport”, open to families, educators, organisations and local residents. The programme included demonstrations of BaskEUball activities, presentations of the project’s results and exchanges regarding the work carried out over the past three years.

A key part of the event was the Inspirational Talks, featuring Delfí Geli, President of Girona FC; Laura Casamitjana, Director of Fundació Elna; and Sander Waare, Manager of Cruyff Courts at the Johan Cruyff Foundation. They addressed topics related to the social role of sport, community involvement and institutional responsibility. Their participation contributed significantly to increasing the visibility of the project, both locally and online.
The programme continued with round-table discussions on education, community engagement and public policy, offering a space for participants to share experiences and discuss opportunities for applying the BaskEUball approach in other contexts.
Although the project has formally concluded, the materials, experiences and tools developed throughout the initiative will continue to be shared so that other schools and clubs across Europe can adopt and adapt the BaskEUball approach.
